Pastor (Mrs.) Blessing Agboli has declared that she hates poverty and seeing people in pains, and attributes lack of love amongst Nigerians especially in the Christendom as the major cause of these problems.
In an interview recently, Pastor Agboli, who is the wife of the general overseer Victorious Army Ministries based in Lagos said a lot of pastors who should set the love examples are the major culprits in this respect. She therefore charged men of God to imbibe the spirit of Christ-like love as Jesus himself is love.
“When I’m called a pastor, sometimes I’m almost like I don’t want to be counted among some of these people because if you are preaching and you don’t have love for the people and don’t have love for your fellow pastors then what are you preaching, because Jesus in essence is love. God is love,” she declared.
Mrs. Agboli who said she met her husband at Latter Rain Assembly headed by firebrand pastor Tunde Bakare, said she and her husband did not start their own church, Victorious Army Ministries, by courting the rich in the society; rather, they picked common people on the streets of Lagos with a view to turning their lives around through the ministry and ministration, and that is love.
In her words, “We started with street boys and girls. I went out into some streets like Allen Avenue, Opebi Link Road, down to Fela Shrine, to gather them, mostly at night. I preached, cooked and gave them money.
“When the ministry started, everybody knew my husband was highly anointed; most people who were sick were healed, and he had this hunger… he was very passionate about healing people because his mum died of an ailment as he didn’t have money to take her to the hospital. In this case, he hated to see sickness and afterwards we began a church because he was basically ready to help those who were need.”
The woman of God who is a British citizen was born and raised in Illogbo in Ika LG area of Delta State. She had her primary education in Enugu and secondary education at Agbor Baptist Girls High School. She later studied nursing at Collable in Ghana, and law in the United Kingdom.
"I first attended the church where my husband was pastoring, he has been in the ministry for a year. In the church he was pastoring I thought my husband was being paid but when I asked him, he said he was not working for money but for God. That made me fell in love with him” she concluded
Anyone who knows the female pastor will tell that she has unrepentant love for jewelries. Any time she steps out, her jewelry collection alone is his passion for people to see the light and love of God a thing she explained is a way to show her gratefulness to God.
