When The Law is Not on Abused Woman’s Side

A man, Mr. Morufu Hammed, who was finally arrested after years of abusing women was again let go by the police.
In the case of Morolake Abike, who is seeking for public’s help after been repeatedly abused by her man friend, Mr. Hammed, who is very notorious when it comes to hitting and abusing women.
She wants the public to know that she is afraid for her life after this man. Mr. Hammed was released after been arrested. She even tried to charge him to court but the case was dismissed.
She also said she was not aware of his abusive behaviour prior to dating him, she even did not know that he had committed this same hideous crime with his ex who ran away with his two kids abroad. Because he is well known, he usually gets away with these brutal crimes, even despite that he had committed crimes both domestically in the United States of America and other foreign countries. He has lived in South Africa and Belgium where he was said to have committed different crimes.
Even a family friend told Morolake that there was a time he threatened a lady called Dupe but unfortunately, she got missing to date. “He is a wayward man, always lamenting about his ex and the children for their running away after how many years, i am done with him, he should please let me be”, Morolake says, “and I am really afraid I don’t want to get missing and also I can’t run out of my country for any man I am only child for my mother .

Nigeria people should help me from this man”.
She said after been discharged from the hospital, she was receiving calls from strange numbers, threatening her that she will bear the consequences of her actions-her actions being that she charged him to court. She later had to change her number.
She later realized that she did not want to be involved with this kind of man, and have tried to end the relationship many times, but being a dominating man that he is, he did not let her go, hence her cry for justice.
This leads to the question of when the law of gender equality would finally be on. When will the system stop accepting bribes and these abusers evade the law? A lot of women have died knowing that there is array of women leaving their marriages. A lot of women have tolerated abuses from their spouses up to the points of losing their lives.
Women cannot speak up knowing that even if they do, the law would not take any action towards bringing these criminals to justice. It is high time that women speak up and make Nigeria a better and safer place for them and their children.
