Diamond Bank In Fraud Scandal …Customers’ Money Disappears Mysteriously
The Alex Otti-led Diamond Bank is at the moment enmeshed in a fraud scandal that is threatening to soil the good image the bank has been trying to build for many years.
The bank that prides itself to be a bank that is ‘there for you’ is said to have fleeced a certain customer of his hard earned money in a mysterious way.
What has remained a difficult riddle to the customer, is the way his money developed wings without making any demand; at the end of the day, he had his over N800,000 removed from his account.
The customer who is at present in the UK is crying wolf that the bank actually knows about the way and manner his money disappeared since he duly informed the bank immediately he got the first debit alert. Moreover, he believes since the bank made him to cough out the sum of four thousand, nine hundred naira as a mandated fund to secure the account against any kind fraud, he wondered how his money could walk away from his accounts without a trace.
The customer made this known to us with the mail he sent that states:
“Please I am going through serious pains right now and I really need help on the way forward. I opened a Salary Account with Diamond Bank in September 2012 to keep funds for my wife as I was travelling for my M.Sc programme in the United Kingdom this January 2013.
“I applied for internet banking to be able to make transfers in December 2012 paying the exorbitant amount of N4,900 which they told me was for a token device which would secure my account from fraud.
“As at April this year, from salary inflows and other deposits, I had a total of about 820,000 Naira in the account. I woke up on the 23rd of April 2013 to see multiple debit alerts from my account with my so-called secure token still in my bag here in the UK.
“I immediately emailed the bank on the fraudulent withdrawal and received only an auto-response. With the lack of reply, I called their customer care line and after waiting through the long interactive voice response process finally got to speak to someone.
“The person who answered said they were going to take on the case and I kept getting new responses anytime I called back. It was a day later after angrily speaking to the person who gave me another assorted ‘canned’ reply that I was given a phone number which I should call to get the matter resolved.
“When I called, I spoke to a certain Mr. Ifeyemi who said they are investigating the matter and also asked me a series of questions to support the investigation. Based on the outcome of the so-called investigation, the bank is telling me stories that an email was sent to my laptop which took the money.
“I am now being told by Diamond Bank that I would be the one to look for the fraudsters and they are not liable for any damages. The accounts where my hard-earned money was transferred to are all indicated. Isn't a bank which sold me a product which is secure supposed to freeze the accounts where my money was transferred to pending investigation since I reported the fraud immediately?
“My wife is stranded in Nigeria. I am stranded in the United Kingdom and the Bank which claims to be ‘There for you’ is trying to avoid all responsibility for the occurrence after I have paid for a ‘secure token’. He concluded.
Meanwhile, effort to get the other side of the Diamond Bank officials proved abortive as calls made to their corporate affairs office were not answered before we went to press.
Abuja Society Lady Tola Solomon In Messy Divorce Drama With Hubby
Abuja society lady, Tola Solomon is in messy divorce drama with her husband, Otunba Kole Solomon, this Global Excellence authoritatively gathered. Before this drama, this couple had been married for 20 years, blessed with grown-up children and have lived in London for most part of their lives. Global Excellence learnt that they both took the decision to return to Nigeria to invest. Their first choice of location was Lagos, but when they got to Lagos and could not cope with the hustling, bustling and busy life of Lagos city, they decided to invest in Abuja.
One of their uncles who is based in Abuja invited them to Abuja and they found Abuja interesting and acquired land to build two duplexes in their choice area.
However it was gathered that Otunba Solomon before he left UK borrowed 300,000 pounds for the investment.
The architect/contractor that built the two duplexes was introduced to Otunba Solomon by his wife, Tola. The amount agreed upon to build the mansion was N40million of which Otunba Solomon paid.
Otunba Solomon later left for UK and told his wife to monitor the construction. Information at our disposal has it that shortly after Otunba got to London; the contractor notified him that the N40million could not complete the construction of the duplex; that he had to add N30million.
When Otunba Solomon could not provide the money, it was gathered that he approached Oceanic Bank for N10million loan and also sold the property which was willed to him by his late father to the same contractor to balance the additional N30million.
After completing the duplexes, the contractor we learnt handed the keys of the buildings to Otunba Kole Solomon. Thereafter, in his efforts to return to the UK and strategize on how to pay back the loans, he handed over the keys of the duplexes to his wife, Tola.
Later, it was discovered that the contractor was sleeping in Otunba Solomon’s duplex with Otunba’s Solomon’s wife without Otunba’s consent. Otunba Solomon who was in Australia when he was informed of this development cut short his traveling without informing his wife and gave a surprised visit to his Abuja residence. Otunba Solomon was shocked to meet the contractor at home with his wife in a relaxed mood.
As we were informed, Otunba Solomon took an action that made the contractor take to his heels and run for his dear life. Hence the tyres of his car were deflated. After a while, our source said Otunba left home to relax at a joint very close to his house, only to return home later and discovered that his house has been mounted by policemen and soldiers by his wife and her accomplice. He was arrested and taken to police station but was later released by the DPO in charge of his case in Abuja.
Meanwhile, since she relocated to Abuja, beautiful Tola has made lots of society friends and they go to society events together. However, Tola with the support of his alleged new lover according to our source are battle ready to file a divorce case against Otunba Solomon. As if that was not enough, all the documents that were made in the name of the Otunba Solomon have been allegedly changed to the name of his wife, Tola.

Fuji Star, General Kollington Is Seriously ill …Speaks From Sick Bed
Fuji star, General Kollington Ayinla, after his 50th anniversary as a musician has been battling from one ailment or the other. This much Global Excellence can reveal.
The Fuji master, we learnt has been on sick bed for several months and the doctor is yet to ascertain the nature of his sickness. The Ilota, Kwara State-born musician is presently at home receiving treatment as he insisted on not going to the hospital for proper medical attention.
According to information at our disposal, the only surviving member of the tripod credited for the birth and development of the traditional fuji music, has not been as active as he used to be many years back.
These days, he’s always within the compound of his house with bed stationed beside him in case he needs to relax when he’s tired of sitting down.
In and around his Alagbado, Lagos home, there is palpable fear that the sickness is getting longer than necessary. Not even when his closest person and perceived rival, late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister passed on about two years ago.
When Global Excellence visited him at his home in Kola around Alagbado, the Ijo Yoyo crooner opened up to us that he’s truly ill but failed to disclose the nature of his sickness. He struggled with his words when he decided to speak on his illness, making it obvious that everything is not right with ‘Baba Alatika’. Speaking on the issue, he said: “whenever someone is sick, people will start exaggerating and they’ll come up with different ailments. The doctor said it was due to stress that I was going through lately”.
Although, Kollington Ayinla is fast advancing in age, however, he is still regarded as one of the best to come out of black Africa in terms of dishing out good music. ‘His repertory is so rich that he remains a central force in the industry’, averred a source in his house. Besides, since Barrister's death about two years ago, Kollington, otherwise called Kebe n Kwara among other titles, remains the rallying point for other fuji singers. It is thus not surprising that a good number of them rose to the occasion of his 50 years on stage.
Part of Kollington's contributions to the development of fuji is that the fast tempo of percussion of many of his albums makes it more danceable. Also, he is more or less the genesis of 'asakasa', the bawdy songs that Obesere later popularized. While he also notes in some of his albums that he introduced bata and piano into fuji, his music is of a significant socio-political essence as he never fails to capture the mood of the nation.

Story From Victims Of Placenta Buyers In Nigeria.
“I was outside waiting for my husband who had gone to source for money to settle my bill, when a man who later introduced himself as Segun accosted me. He claimed that one of the nurses directed him to come and meet me that I was in need of money to settle my hospital bill. It was then that he told me that he is a placenta collector and that he would pay as much as N500, 000. “I thought he was joking till he brought out his cheque book, it was at that point that I started shouting. He ran away before people started gathering around. He claimed that he is a regular visitor in the hospital and used to deal with nurses but in recent times, the families demand their placenta after delivery.”-Mrs. Chidera Okereke who was recently delivered of a bouncing baby boy in a hospital located in Mafoluku area of Lagos State.
''I was actually offered N2.5million to supply placenta to a certain landlord who lives close to the hospital. He is popularly known as Baba Saheed and owns a house few blocks after the hospital. One day, he called me and asked me if he can buy placenta from the hospital. He promised to pay N1.5million for each baby’s placenta; I was shocked because that was a lot of money. I told him that I was not interested and he increased it to N2.5million and I still refused. To convince me, he said that there were so many places he could get supply but decided to try me since so many women were giving birth in the hospital. ''On a second thought, I drew the attention of the doctor who invited him over. He threatened to arrest him but later relented when Baba Saheed prostrated and started begging for mercy. He claimed that he got the contract from a big company. Since then it is a matter of policy that every pregnant woman must go home with her baby’s placenta after delivery.''- Nurse Patricia (surname withheld) who works in a hospital at Mafoluku area of Oshodi in Lagos State.

YAHOO Boys Invade FaceBook To Scam People
If you think the
last has been heard about the advance fee internet fraudsters known as
Yahoo…Yahoo boys, then you are far from the truth. The scam boys we heard have now
formed a new strategy by using Facebook to carry out their illicit act.
Unlike the
Yahoo! Mail hitherto being used by this group to dupe people, Facebook is their
new haven. Facebook is originally meant to make friends and share ideas. But Yahoo
boys are seeing it as another opportunity to advance their trade using it to take
advantage of innocent ‘Facebook friends’.
Before now, scamming in Nigeria was the most common type. The messages would
generally claim that your help was needed to access a large sum of money,
usually millions of dollars, which in fact do not exist.
The messages are
an open gambit designed to draw potential victims deeper into the scam. Aside
that, money transfer request is another scheme they use in scamming people.
With the rising of internet banking, it is now easier to transfer money across
the world in minutes. Unfortunately, this has also meant an increase in the
number and types of scams Yahoo boys engage in. They trick you into sending
your hard-earned cash to overseas scammers, albeit unknowingly. There is also
the inheritance scam whereby the scammer would tell you that you are
entitled to claim a large inheritance
from a distant relative or wealthy benefactor who has died overseas.
Now, the
Facebook scam is called dating scam.
Besides just
asking for money for their studies, sick relatives and others, the scammers also
upload fake but attractive photos; in most cases, of white people. They pretend
to be foreign specialists working in Nigeria or Ghana (usually originally from
US and UK, but it may also be Canada, Australia or any other European country).
After establishing intimate correspondences with you, falling in love and maybe
even send a couple of cheap presents, they will then deploy the follow-up plan.
They will tell you that when they were on their way to meet you, they got robbed,
beaten, and landed in the hospital, asking you as their only contact, to come
to their aid by forwarding money for their medical bills.
Another thing
they say is that, their employer pays them with money order, and they can’t cash
them in Nigeria. They will then send you the supposed money order and ask you
to deposit them into your bank account and then wire the money to them via Western
Union. Now, once you cash them or deposit them into your account, the money
order will come back to you after few weeks as fraudulent and you will be
responsible for paying back the money to the bank and sometimes even charged
for passing counterfeit instrument. The
warning is, everyone should just be watchful and be very careful with who they
get acquainted with on Facebook as the Yahoo boys have now made the social
media their new haven.
Kidney Failure Threat... Music Stars Panic, Renounce Smoking And Drinking Over OJB’s Sickness
Ladies, heavy alcohol consumption, drugs and high
rate of smoking are tantamount to the Nigerian music industry. We are not surprised about this as most Nigerian
artistes indulge in them. What, however, amazes many is that these artistes
find joy engaging in these habits heavily. Some music fans will tell you that they
can’t boast of any hip-hop artiste who doesn’t smoke or consumes liquor to
stimulate energy on stage. Though, they usually look calm and innocent, sources
say the way they embraced stick in the corner of their houses speaks volume of
their interest. In this story, SHOKISHOMBOLO NEWS lists the artistes who people
believe fall into this category.
Enjoy…
“Who say 2face
no dey smoke, come Festac come see film”. This is what those that are close to
2Face will tell you if you try to tell them that Innocent Idibia, the African
Queen crooner is truly innocent.
General Pype
General Pype is
one of the wave-making artistes of the moment. The former Storm Records label
member has proved his worth on the musical scene. His musical talent cuts across.
But what many say spoils the Obalende boy is his smoking habit. Oh! He smokes
and he doesn’t hide it.
MI
Rapper, Jude
Abaga and well-known as MI, we gathered, is also a chimney before he was
diagnosed of asthma. Asthma is a partial seizure of breath of the victim.
Asthma patients are mostly affected with choked or contaminated air from
cigarettes.
9ice
In the Nigerian
music industry, he is worthy of emulation being the rocky pillar behind the
success of the fast-rising act, Seriki, but what baffles people is the way the one-time
favourite artiste of music lovers smokes. In fact, he’s not ashamed to dedicate
a track for the illegal weed (Igbo) in his first album. Aside his heavy smoking
habit, we learnt he also drinks a lot.
Wizkid
He is young,
talented and his music career continues to soar despite the fact that he dumped
his former boss, Bank W. This talented kid was said to have been caught
severally at Elegushi Beach smoking with friends and drinking heavily to the
extent that he often times could not walk home without aid.
Timaya
Everyone knows about
Timaya’s deep smoking habit but what they don’t know, perhaps, is when the acclaimed
Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa will put an end to the risky act. Though, he is being
conscious of where he smokes, friends close to him say he’s a heavy smoker and
drunkard.
Terry G.
Terry G does not
need introduction in the industry of weed smoking as the Ganja farmer always
portrays himself as a diehard smoker. His picture has been posted on social
media severally where he was caught in the act. If you are his friend that only
drinks occasionally, don’t try to collect or sip Terry G’s drink as you will
blame yourself. We were told that, he usually blends it with weed (Igbo). He
will tell you that, smoking is the ginger that gingers his swagger. Some people
even tag him a ‘Great Ganjarist’
2Shotz
Nigerian Rapper,
William Orioha aka 2Shotz, has been smoking and drinking for so long especially
when he goes for shows outside Lagos. In fact, there was a show we learnt he
was billed to perform but after allegedly drinking to stupor, he slept off and
could not mount the stage until the following day.
W4
Festac based
artiste, Adewale Adepoju a.k.a W4, is also a heavy smoker. This Osun State-born Fela’s protégé has
severally been spotted puffing himself heavily.
Don Jazzy
It was like a
celebration of smoke for Nigerian topmost producer, Don Jazzy recently at
Oriental Hotel, Lagos. Such was one of Don Jazzy’s smoking sessions, though. Aside smoking, he is also said to love drinking
alcohol heavily.
