Heart
disease is one of the leading causes of female deaths in the world and here are
little ways we can avert this problem since the symptoms in women are extremely
different from the ones we see in men.
1. Quit Smoking: It’s not
known much but most smokers die from heart disease long before they get lung
cancer. There are fewer smokers these days but the number of women who quit has
risen. Smoking tends to create blood clots, decreases the level of good
cholesterol, makes it harder to exercise and can raise your blood pressure
temporarily.
2. Sex: Any exercise is essential for your heart,
including sex. Sex is a significant form of exercise and it’s also recommended that
you get at least 30 minutes a day moderate exercise whether it’s in the gym, neighborhood
or even in your bedroom. Exercise lowers your blood pressure; helps you lose
weight, increases your good cholesterol, reduces your bad cholesterol and
increases your insulin sensitivity.
3. Get Some Sleep: Sleep is not just
downtime: you need seven to eight hours a night to be well rested. It’s a way
your brain forms new pathways to help your memory. If you don’t get enough
sleep, your body constantly produces adrenaline and stress hormone to keep you
awake, that means your blood pressure and heart rate doesn’t slow down as well.
Also know that you produce cytokines when sleeping, which helps your immune
system fight infections and chronic inflammation.
