“OUR POLITICIANS HAVE FAILED WOEFULLY” -REGGAE STAR, MARJEK FASHEK DECLARES

In his reaction to the state of the nation Marjek Fashek accused Nigerian political leader of leading their people astray. The talented reggae star said “Our politicians have failed woefully. It is only few of the governors and the president Goodluck that are trying. Fashola, Tinubu, Obasanjo are all good politicians and good leaders too. It is because he (Obasanjo) and Fela has a b**f then but he's a good Yoruba leader. Oshomole, Donald duke are very good too. Those are the kind of political leaders we need right now.”
In case you don’t know who Fashek is, he first gained national fame on a television show in the early 1980s as a member of Benin-based reggae group Jastix. He has recorded several albums for various labels since, including Rainmaker for Tuff Gong (1997) and Little Patience for Coral (2004). Fashek is one of the increasing number of African artists to be drawn to the music of the Caribbean, specifically reggae, rather than indigenous hybrids such as fuji, jùjú, or highlife. Having grown up in a fervently religious and musical family, he was exposed to the imported sounds of Bob Marley at an early age, alongside the innovations of local stars such as Fela Kuti.
